The Financial
Planning Association of Houston will sponsor an information
booth staffed by local FPA members at the annual People's Law
School event in Houston, Tex. People's Law School is a free program
focused on sharing information with the public about their legal
rights and the role those rights play in their daily lives. The
program is completely free and the instructors include judges,
lawyers and professionals.
October 4, 2009 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
The Financial Planning Association of
Dallas/Ft. Worth is teaming up with The Dallas Morning
News to host a free telephone hotline. The hotline will be
open to the public. FPA members will field calls for five
hours and answer general questions in the areas of financial
planning. The event is hosted by The Dallas Morning
News and personal finance writer, Pamela Yip.
October 4, 2009 (12 p.m. – 2 p.m.)
The Financial Planning Association of
Dallas/Ft. Worth is teaming up with The Dallas Morning
News to host a Web chat for the general public. FPA members
will field e-mails for two hours and answer general questions
in the areas of financial planning. The event is hosted by The
Dallas Morning News and personal finance writer, Pamela
Yip.

The Financial Planning Association of
Dallas/Ft. Worth will announce the start of FPA's Financial
Freedom program. This pro bono program is for the general public
and pairs citizens in need with financial
planners in the FPA Dallas/Ft.Worth chapter.
Applicants who qualify will receive 45 minutes of one-on-one
financial planning assistance. Applications will be taken
during Financial Planning Week®, October 5-11, 2009. Please contact

Dallas/Ft. Worth will officially launch its professional
Facebook page on the social networking site. Information will
include events, reminders, pictures, and financial links.

The Financial Planning Association of
Dallas/Ft. Worth will host its 7th annual Honors Dinner and
Silent Auction in Dallas, Tex. The awards include the Honors
Award, the Chairman's Award, and the 1st Annual Young Guns Award
for planners 30 and under. The silent auction will benefit the
North Texas Food Bank. Past Honorees include Guy Cumbie, CFP®,
CIMA®, CIMC®; Woody Young; Bill Carter, CFP®, ChFC, CLU; Gary
Morris, CFP®; Alan Goldfarb, CFP®; Mike Busch,
